A commentary on ‘The True American Religion’ within “COLONIAL COSMOLOGY” 2026, an original artwork by Richard A. Page

·· Comedy
<<Middle Ages>>—stage-plays & narrative poems with happy endings and a lighter tone
Satire—wit, irony, or sarcasm used to expose and discredit vice or folly (as of a person, government, or society); broadly : humor that criticizes weakness or wrongdoing
Parody—a creative work designed to imitate, comment on, and/or mock its subject by means of satirical or ironic imitation.
Black Humor—humor marked by the use of usually morbid, ironic, grotesquely comic episodes
.
·· Lord
one having power and authority over others:
—a ruler by hereditary right or preeminence to whom service and obedience are due;
—one of whom a fee or estate is held in feudal tenure;
—an owner of land or other real property;
—one that has achieved mastery or that exercises leadership or great power in some area

In the USA, any story that ends with more money than it began with is a good story, a comedy

This [the time of chattel slavery] is America’s Garden of Eden:
picturesque,
harmonious—
everything in its right place.

It’s ironic—we take by force the life of one to enrich the life of another
“Vita ad vitam”, “Life to/for life”
••
“In God We Trust”, but, who is Our god but the Self; and trust for what?
“Omnia ad unum”, “All to/for one”

We have venerated the most iniquitous: the slavers, the warmongers, the architects of systemic harm.

We call them special, but at their core they’re all the same, empowered by the same avarice & self-obsession. Without those, who, what, and where would they really be?

No matter the justification, every bone the USA has crushed and every drop of blood it has spilled has been an act of ritual sacri-fice, an offer-ing to its True God.

At some point it stops being about the wealth, the money.

At some point it becomes clearly about the dominance, the control, the power.

At some point the bones and the blood are the point.

“COLONIAL COSMOLOGY” 2026 previously displayed during the July 2026 group show, “America the Iniquitous”, at BAAT Gallery, commemorating the USA’s 250th Anniversary.

A commentary on ‘class’ within “The American Comedy” 2026, an original artwork by Richard A. Page

·· Social Class (Wikipedia) - “A social class or social stratum is a grouping of people into a set of hierarchical social categories, the most common ones being: the working class, the middle class and the upper class. Membership of a social class is commonly considered dependent on education, wealth, occupation, income, and belonging to a particular subculture or social network.” ··

Our society is built on inequality. We know this and we accept this—the clean vs the filthy, the healthy vs the terminal, and

powerful vs the controlled.

·· Slavery (Wikipedia) - “Slavery is the ownership of a person as property, especially in regard to their labour. It is an economic phenomenon and its history resides in economic history. Slavery typically involves compulsory work, with the slave’s location of work and residence dictated by the party that holds them in bondage. Enslavement is the placement of a person into slavery, and the person is called a slave or an enslaved person.” ··

·· Underclass (Wikipedia) - “The underclass is the segment of the population that occupies the lowest possible position in a class hierarchy, below the core body of the working class. This group is usually considered cut off from the rest of the society.” ··

The advent and maintenance of slavery in The Colonies and USA were the attempts to create a permanent underclass—a fixed bottom providing access to infinite, free labor.

·· Social mobility (Wikipedia) - “Social mobility is the movement of individuals, families, households or other categories of people within or between social strata in a society. It is a change in social status relative to one’s initial status in a given society. This movement occurs between layers or tiers in an open system of social stratification. Open stratification systems are those in which at least some value is given to achieved status characteristics in a society. The movement can be in a downward or upward direction. Markers for social mobility such as education and class, are used to predict, discuss, and learn more about movement in society.” ··

A commentary on ‘avarice’ within “Lord” 2026, an original artwork by Richard A. Page
.
.
.
there exists a state of being wherein consumption consumes the one engaged in its act

in “Lord”, a gargantuan serpent god feasts on a stream of gold falling from above

it has gorged itself on so much gold—and for so long—that its entire body is luminescent, a result of being replete with the substance

from inception, the soul and identity of the USA has been inextricably linked to an obsession with capital and capital accumulation.

we’ve betrayed for it
we’ve enslaved for it
we’ve colonized for it
we’ve waged war for it
we’ve aided genocide for it

the list is as long as the serpent god’s gullet

in its continued growth, the USA has become a colossus so blinded by desire that it has threatened its own ability to breathe, its size having greatly displaced the once abundant air that surrounded it

A commentary on ‘human capital’ within “The American Comedy” 2026, an original artwork by Richard A. Page
.
.
.
humanity is a multifaceted object possessed by a human that dictates the monetary value of the human as appraised by an enterprise—*that* is what human capital really is

in this society and under this economic system, we’re all just pieces of flesh with money inside;

because our society withholds our basic needs from us, we’re compelled to perform any manner of act demanded of us in hopes to survive;

when there’s nothing left in us to take, our carcass is hauled off to clear room for the next victim.

in this system, on the horizon, there’re always more bodies on the way.
